I realize that I promised the second part of my "Children of the World" photography series for this week, but I'm too excited and need to share about the Shoot & Share photo contest.
The S&S contest is an enormous photo contest. I mean enormous! There were over 413k photos submitted this year from 160 countries! Seriously guys. Wow!
Fifty of those 413k photos were mine. I'm not going to share all fifty with you, but I will share my best performing photos. On a related note, if you submitted fifty photos to the contest, you were gifted this super cute tote bag. I may or may not have entered this contest for the tote bag. 😜
This first one came in at #2,532 out of 19,330 in the lifestyle category. For all my fellow math nerds out there, that's 13.1%. Not too shabby! I'm so glad this one did so well, because this is one of my favorite photos of all time of M. This was on a hot summer day last year, and we had just finished playing with the hose. After we were done, M just had to get a drink from it. It still makes me laugh when I think about that day. 😂
This one was close to making it into the top 20% and came it at 21.5%. Believe it or not, this is a photo I took with my cell phone! This Bellevue maintained trail is walking distance to my house, and the whole family enjoys walks along this creek.
This photo I took of M a few months after we moved to Bellevue at Chism Beach. It's crazy to think that he was only 2 years old in this photo because it still feels so fresh in my memory. I loved all of the photos from this series so much that we actually had one printed on canvas and it hangs proudly in our living room.
And finally, this photo was inspired by the S&S contest from 2017. I saw a lot of really cool looking double exposures during the contest that year and wanted to give it a try myself. I really loved the way this one turned out and the symbolism between the trees and a child's growing mind.
While I wouldn't go so far as to call myself an award winning photographer, it is pretty awesome that I had these photos do so well. And since three of my top photos were of M, I'd say I'm doing pretty well photographing children. 😊 I'd love to give you some photos of your own children that you'll love for many years to come. I can't wait to hear from you!
