First birthdays are a big deal. In Korean culture, the celebration can be as big as a wedding, bar mitzvah, quinceañera. While we didn't go quite that big for Baby J's first birthday party, it certainly was a big deal to us. And of course, we went all out on the food!
The main event at the first birthday the doljabi. Several items are laid out in front of the baby, and then the item picked predicts his lot in life. For Baby J, the items were a pencil (intelligence), yarn (long life), coins (wealth), a medal (ambition), and colored chalk (creativity). You can see which one he picked and how triumphant he looks!
If you're ready to capture your family's special moments, let's talk!
